NTT Data Joins Cloud Native Computing Foundation

NTT Data, global IT services provider, announced that it recently joined the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). As a Silver Member, NTT Data is positioned to effectively support clients’ digital transformation and modernization efforts using the latest trends in cloud native technology.

CNCF is a non-profit member organization of the Linux Foundation that promotes cloud native computing. It has more than 300 member companies, including leading public cloud operators. Through the development of open source projects, CNCF provides vendor-neutral cloud technology support, such as Envoy, which is a proxy software developed and donated to the CNCF.

“The Cloud Native Computing Foundation will allow us to develop new capabilities and contribute to the diffusion of cloud native computing. Furthermore, it will strengthen our cloud strategy and business,” said Masatoshi Hiraoka, NTT Data. “We have an aggressive goal to increase cloud sales by $922 million USD over the next three years. Our membership will further increase our ability to deliver solutions that have a positive impact for our clients.”

NTT Data helps clients accelerate their digital business by applying cloud native practices and emerging technologies. In this context, NTT Data highlights the importance of transformation planning; application development and modernization; agile transformation; and cloud lifecycle management.

Through cloud native application development, such as support of Kubernetes, an open source platform to automate the operation of containers, NTT Data enables clients to achieve increased agility of system development.

NTT Data is a NelsonHall Leader

Furthermore, the NelsonHall 2019 NEAT Report for IoT in Digital Transformation recognized NTT Data as a Leader. The company achieved the “Leader” ranking in three capabilities: manufacturing, retail and supply chain.

NTT Data ranked highly thanks to its ability to deliver immediate benefit to clients as well as meet future requirements; for example through offering Internet of things (IoT) services in support of digital transformation.

“Over the years, we focused on expanding our portfolio of IoT services to meet the growing demand in this area. Furthermore, we have advised our clients on the importance of using IoT to drive business value,” said Eric Clark, NTT Data Services. “We leverage NTT’s $4 billion investment in research and development, which includes funding programs to support the development of IoT.”

NTT Data is also highlighted for the company’s significant research and development (R&D) investment in funding for digital transformation and its strong in-house assets for mobility and cognitive technology.
