NetWeaver And The 2027 End-Of-Support Deadline

Most Abap and Java stacks will experience their end of life this year (2020), meaning that SAP customers will have to upgrade to more recent NetWeaver versions.

The goodnews: SAP extended maintenance for ERP/ECC 6.0, Customer RelationshipManagement 7.0, Supply Chain Management 7.0, Supplier Relationship Management7.0 and Business Suite powered by Hana (SoH) until 2027 – and for an additionalfee, customers can enjoy maintenance for all of these products until 2030. Thismust consequently mean that there has to also be a NetWeaver stack availablewith the same end-of-support deadline.

The badnews: Customers with Java- or Abap-based SAP NetWeaver dual stack systemsshould plan to split the dual stack. Customers who want to operate BusinessSuite 7 including an Application Server (AS) Java until 2030 should update toNetWeaver version 7.5. Abap stack users enjoy (almost) freedom of choice: until2030, Abap stack is supported in the NetWeaver versions 7.03, 7.31, 7.40 and 7.50.

For more detailed information, see the SAP service note 1648480, version 21, updated on February 4, 2020 or take a look at the table below.

The rulesof Business Suite 7 also apply to the NetWeaver stack: mainstream maintenanceuntil 2027, in the three years that follow (2028, 2029, 2030) extendedmaintenance (comes with a premium of two percentage points on the existingmaintenance basis).
