S/4 Hana and some SAP cloud apps (like the Corona warning app for Germany) are technological masterpieces, there’s no doubt about that. However, customers don’t typically opt for solutions just because the technology is amazing. There are many other factors at play, for example organizational, economic, and licensing benefits. Licensing especially can play a major part in decision-making on software.
Are customers happy with SAP and S/4 Hana?
In a joint survey, ASUG and German-speaking SAP user group DSAG have asked their members about their experience with S/4 Hana. They found that “the perception of SAP after implementing S/4 improved a lot for 13 percent of ASUG members and for 14 percent of DSAG members”. That’s not that good, is it? Furthermore, the survey found that “nearly half (48 percent) of both the ASUG and DSAG members who have already implemented S/4 found the process more complex than expected”. Run simple? Not exactly.
What, then, is the benefit, the value of S/4 Hana? Good question. Let’s hope SAP and the community figure it out before the ERP company has to extend the end-of-maintenance deadline for Business Suite 7 and ERP/ECC 6.0 a second time.
