The impendingmigration to S/4 Hana or a harmonized integration of SAP cloud solutions likeQualtrics or SuccessFactors – these are much discussed topics in the SAPcommunity at the moment. In kind of an echo chamber, customers talk aboutsomething else, too: SAP Data Intelligence. There’s a lot of questions thathave yet to be answered. What is Data Intelligence and what can it do? Whatkind of infrastructure does SAP Data Intelligence need? How do Linux and opensource relate to that?
Beneficialcontinuity
It’simportant to know that SAP Data Intelligence and SAP Data Hub are closelyconnected; in this case meaning that Data Intelligence adds machine learningfunctionalities to Data Hub. SAP Data Intelligence is integrated in the SAPData Hub launch pad as “ML Scenario Manager”.
If SAPcustomers already use Suse Linux Enterprise Server for SAP Applications (SLESfor SAP) in combination with Hana or S/4, they will also want to use Susesolutions in combination with SAP Data Hub and Data Intelligence, as it leadsto beneficial technological continuity.
The best solutionfor the task: Suse CaaSP, a container solution with Kubernetes certified forSAP Data Hub. Its primary task is to ensure flexible and automated provision ofmicroservices through containers. It leverages Suse Linux Enterprise Server(SLES) as container host OS in a special version (SLES Micro OS) to optimize theuse of resources.
SAP Data Intelligence in combination with Suse
Incombination with SAP Data Hub and SAP Data Intelligence, Kubernetes is inevitableand indispensable. The deployment of the solutions happens in Kubernetesenvironments in the public cloud, the private cloud or on prem. The foundationis a supported Kubernetes distribution that Suse provides.
Kubernetesallows customers to lay the foundation for operating software and systems inmultiple cloud environments (Kubernetes or cloud native). With a containerinfrastructure solution like Suse CaaS Platform, companies have the possibilityto containerize and orchestrate applications as well as establish a microservicesarchitecture.
Open sourcewill continue to be an essential topic for SAP. Especially in the context ofSAP Data Hub and Data Intelligence, open source solutions are front and center– and I think I don’t need to reiterate how important Linux for Hana and S/4is.
As open source innovator and long-standing SAP partner, Suse can support customers with its solutions specifically developed for SAP systems – whether they are on prem, in the cloud or part of hybrid environments.
