Yes, there are many ways to reach SAP’s ‘holy grail’ S/4 Hana. Offers (and buzzwords) are plenty: greenfield, brownfield, bluefield, on premises or in the cloud, hybrid, multi cloud, hyperscaler clouds. Not complicated at all, right?
Consultants are trying to establish themselves as trusted advisors. SAP is listening to its customers and, from what I’ve heard in the community, is actually trying to help. Which is great! However, what SAP customers need more than ever are concrete, practical answers. They are bombarded with different offers and possibilities, but almost no one is providing them with actionable guidelines.
Does anyone really know what licensing and organizational aspects customers have to be aware of concerning AnyDB migrations to S/4 Hana? As is often the case in IT, there are many possibilities – but which one actually makes sense for companies? How should SAP customers know what consequences their decisions will have on licensing, technology, management, and production if no one is explaining it to them?
We at E-3 Magazine are trying to offer clear answers, but we can only work with what we’ve got. At the end of the day, it’s the duty of SAP and its partner ecosystem to provide customers with concrete, practical guidelines.
The transformation, migration or conversion to S/4 Hana will happen anyway (since SAP made it mandatory), but SAP customers wouldn’t struggle as much if they had some answers.
