Advertorial: Dürr Group Modernizes Personnel Management With Oracle Cloud Solutions

The renowned machine and system manufacturer digitizes processes with the help of Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM and in future will bundle the essential HR processes in one platform.

The Dürr Group, a leading global machine and plant manufacturer, is pushing ahead with the digitization of its personnel processes and using Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) to modernize HR management. With the decision in favor of the comprehensive solution from a single vendor, the company is paving the way for digitizing previously manual processes and further optimizing all processes, saving costs and transforming all global software operations. Oracle will not only support the digitization process of the Dürr Group with the provision of its system solution. In the evaluation process, the Dürr Group also decided to rely on the vendor’s extensive experience and to use its expertise as an implementation partner.

The Dürr Group, headquartered in Bietigheim-Bissingen, is a leading global machine and system manufacturer and has extensive expertise in the areas of automation and digitization/Industry 4.0. Its products, systems and services enable highly efficient and resource-saving manufacturing processes in various industries. The Dürr Group supplies industries such as the automotive industry, mechanical engineering as well as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical technology and woodworking. In 2020 it achieved sales of € 3.32 billion. The company employs 17,000 people and has 121 locations in 33 countries. This year Dürr is celebrating its 125th company anniversary.

The new HR platform creates transparency for the group-wide HR processes at Dürr and helps to further standardize them. In addition to improvements in reporting and analysis of HR data, employees in particular should be able to address personnel issues with the help of self-services.

“The introduction of a new, group-wide HR platform is an important milestone for the entire HR organization of the Dürr Group and opens up many new possibilities for more efficient and intuitive HR work,” explains Klaus Achtelik, CHRO of the Dürr Group. “By opting for Oracle Cloud HCM, we as the HR department are making an important contribution to the central strategy element ‘digital @ DÜRR’ and are also supporting the transformation in our own department. With Oracle Cloud HCM, we are relying on a modern and at the same time very powerful product, from which we expect additional innovative strength in the future. “

Reliability and flexibility for HR processes 4.0

In order to standardize its formerly heterogeneous HR IT landscape on the basis of the Oracle Cloud HCM platform solution, the Dürr Group is pursuing a so-called “OneDürrGroup” strategy. Decisive for the choice of Oracle Cloud HCM were among other things the far-reaching integration and the continuous further development of the cloud platform. The system is characterized by its flexible architecture and handling, thanks to which users can react more quickly to changes in their highly dynamic environment.

“With Oracle Cloud HCM, we are relying on a homogeneous platform, this applies in particular to the functional and technical functionalities,” emphasizes Konrad Westphal, Senior Manager Strategic IT at Dürr. The aim was to systematically align the implementation to the requirements of the user right from the start. After the tender, a series of intensive demos and deep dive workshops followed from September 2020.

“We were convinced that the user front-end and technical back-end are made from one piece. This offers great advantages for our around 17,000 employees worldwide as users of the platform, but also especially for our HR departments. From the point of view of Dürr IT, it was also important to be able to integrate the new software solution securely and stably into our existing backend systems. We operate these both on-premises and in the cloud as a SaaS solution,” says Konrad Westphal.

In the exploration and evaluation phase of the project, Oracle already scored points with the decision-makers with a high level of consulting expertise and decades of experience in the implementation of large-scale projects. This was the decisive factor in the Dürr Group also opting for Oracle as its implementation partner.

“We are very pleased that the Dürr Group has not only opted for our solution, but also for us as the implementation partner. We support the customer in a partnership with the digital transformation of their entire HR processes in the cloud environment,” comments Volker Rosendahl, Vice President & Country Leader Cloud Applications Oracle Germany. “With Oracle Cloud HCM, the customer is strategically well positioned to meet the requirements for efficient HR management of tomorrow.”
