Cloud And Workload Automation By Arvato Systems

During the annual DSAG technology days, Arvato Systems demonstrated Cloud and Workload Automation best practices to the SAP community.

The IT specialists from Arvato/Bertelsmann demonstrated in particular,  which cloud models are suitable for which business model, as well as how SAP can be used to generate more flexibility and scalability from the cloud.

Flexibility and scalability

Using cloud IT, companies are able to scale IT resources and capacity with greater accuracy and more flexibility. Transparent billing models and the self-service concept ensure that outlays can be constantly monitored, and investment costs kept to a minimum. The greatest potential for future-readiness and competitiveness lies in the design and re-design of SAP applications using native cloud services. These new applications are the basis for new digital products and so also form part of the future digital value chain. Existing SAP environments can also be cost-effectively extended into the public cloud using flexible development and project environments.

IT Workload Automation

The team members at the trade fair booth also present the SAP Workload Automation solution streamworks. Companies can use streamworks to plan, maintain, control, and monitor all automatable IT processes, and thereby increase their productivity. The software defines and manages the automated execution of IT-based background processes.

The IT workload, as it is known, consists of multiple individual programs or script calls which, with streamworks, can be planned, maintained, controlled and monitored from a central location. Cross-platform automation of IT-based business processes is also possible, thanks to numerous agents and/or interfaces.

The integration between SAP and streamworks uses the jexa4S certified interface connected to the SAP Netweaver XBP interface. SAP BI systems are addressed with streamworks component jexa4BI via the BW-SCH interface. SAP systems on the SAP Java Stack (e.g. SAP PI/PO) are integrated via JXBP-Web Services. Operating systems running SAP are integrated using agent software, either on-premise, virtual or in the cloud. Public cloud platforms are integrated using specialized API connectors.
