SAP Ariba and OMX Team to Boost Global Commerce

SAP Ariba and Canadian technology startup Offset Market Exchange (OMX) are teaming up to make commerce happen. The companies announced plans to connect the OMX Marketplace to SAP Ariba Discovery to increase B2B supply chain and sourcing opportunities for buyers and sellers around the world.

“Networks are all about connecting people, information and processes. And to create value, they too must be connected,” said Jon Stevens, Global Senior Vice President, Business Networks, SAP Ariba.

He adds,“In joining forces with OMX, we can connect more buyers and sellers around more commerce in new and innovative ways that lead to profitable partnerships and business growth.”

The Ariba Network is the world’s largest, most global business-to-business network, with more than 2.8 million connected companies in 190 countries transacting nearly $1 trillion in commerce on an annual basis.

Delivered on the network, SAP Ariba Discovery is the premier service for matching business buyers and sellers globally where more than $308 million in business is posted every month.

OMX, a leading supply chain, data analytics and project management technology platform, connects buyers and sellers in the defence, aerospace, mining, oil/gas and infrastructure industries. The technology also manages and tracks national economic impacts of major projects, particularly government procurements.

A Network of Networks

Together, OMX and SAP Ariba can provide suppliers with access to increased opportunities across a wide spectrum of industries and allow buyers to tap into a larger network of qualified trading partners.

Buyers using SAP Ariba Discovery generate millions of business opportunities which will automatically be matched and sent out as Request for Proposals to the thousands of active suppliers in OMX. OMX buyers will also be able to push their demand to suppliers using SAP Ariba Discovery for fulfillment.

“Networks of the future will work together, collaborate and share data to bring maximum value to the community, and that is exactly what this alliance is all about,” said OMX Founder and CEO, Nicole Verkindt.

What’s OMX?

The OMX platform provides access to over 60,000 international companies by region, size, local content, certifications and capability, with effective web-based software tools to manage supplier and customer relationships collaboratively across an organization.

It consolidates all the related information required to fulfill a program, making Government contractors more competitive in a sector where there tends to be a lot at stake and entry costs can be heavy.
