The 6th European Workshop on Software Ecosystems (EWSECO) will take place on 23. November 2017 at the Technical University of Darmstadt. The goal of the event is to foster the exchange between researchers and business leaders in the IT industry. This year’s topics will revolve around building an IoT ecosystem, platform business in application markets and more.
Participants come from universities across Europe, including Bamberg,Darmstadt, Karlsruhe, Copenhagen, Oxford, Stuttgart and Utrecht as well as from IT companies such as Cisco, Deutsche Telekom, fluidOps, Huawei, Netfira, SalesForce. com, SAP, Siemens and Software AG.
Agenda and contents are curated by a high-calibre programme committee consisting of researchers and practitioners such as Prof. Dr. Peter Buxmann (Dean of Business Informatics at TU-Darmstadt and board member of House-of-IT), Thomas Aidan Curran (Consultant of Deutsche Börse and former CTO of SAP Hybris) and Dr. Slinger Jansen (Software Ecosystem researcher from the Netherlands).
Since 2012, approximately 40 to 60 participants meet annually to discuss current software industry and partner ecosystem issues such as network business models, trends in partner ecosystem design, relationships and risks for vendors and partners, but also the impact and development of AppStores, the API Economy, or the use of open source.
Current topics in the SAP ecosystem, the largest market segment for business software in the world, are also presented and discussed at the event. The workshop format is characterized by short impulse lectures and long discussions in which researchers and practitioners can question things, but also take important suggestions and ideas with them.
An award will be given for the best presentation and discussion. The presentations will be published in a conference proceedings and available through Amazon and other distributors.
