The new Camelot ITLab accelerator features a blockchain-based list of mobile phone serial numbers and their owners. It is accessible to all operators, smart phone producers and end customers.
Its primary use is to blacklist lost or stolen mobile devices. Therefore, if an operator blacklists a serial number, all participants of the blockchain network have access to this information – safely and in real-time. This can prevent the device from being used with the SIM card of another provider.
“The re-use of stolen smart phones is a serious issue for both network operators and device producers. However, above all, corporate or private end customers arguably suffer the most. With our new blockchain accelerator package, we provide a solution tailored to the needs of these stakeholders. It adds to our offering in the area of SAP Leonardo,” said Aseem Gaur, Chief Leonardo Officer at Camelot.
The Blockchain Accelerator for Mobile Device Management provides a fixed-price solution (software and services bundle) before the integration of SAP software and design thinking methodology.
What is more, there are service providers who already work with Camelot ITLab. One of them is the Deutsche Telekom.
Regarding the innovative blockchain technology, Hartmut Müller, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Telekom, said, “Blockchain is a disruptive technology with great potential. It was important for us to work with a consulting organization who has expertise in this field. Camelot and their blockchain-based Hypertrust Platform convinced us.”
