Information and documentation exchange is a basic requirement for trouble-free cooperation. Information and documents are generated in the various business processes and need to be exchanged within the business or with external business partners
Mapping of the business process here often happens in SAP, whereas the distribution of information and documents is carried out using Microsoft SharePoint. Coupling these two systems automatically is not always completely straightforward. SEAL Systems has come up with a standardized solution for that.
What is SAP-SharePoint-DMS-Exchange?
SEAL System’s SharePoint solution (SAP-SharePoint-DMS-Exchange) consists of two connected modules: SAP Export to SharePoint and SharePoint Export to SAP. In both modules the user stipulates which documents and information are to be exported. This information and documents are identified using an automatic process and transferred via an interface to the relevant counterpart which can be SAP or SharePoint. Here, 25 SAP-processes and 39 transactions can transfer documents and informations from SAP to SharePoint. This gives the user a solution for many different application scenarios without any in-house development.
SEAL Systems use structure explosions in SAP for finding documents within a particular process. Identified documents and data are managed in SAP using the Document Distribution Director and are transferred via the SEAL Systems Output Management System to SharePoint. The Connector to SharePoint uses SharePoint’s Client-Side Object Model (CSOM) interface, a REST-based interface. As a result, numerous processes in SAP are supported, among them, for example, Material management, Sales, Production, Maintenance, as well as manual and customer-specific resolutions.
This solution is of interest to all businesses who are looking for a simple, automated and reliable solution for exchanging information between SAP and SharePoint or who want to exchange documents from SAP with their customers, suppliers or other partners using SharePoint.
