Datavard Recognized In The 2016 Gartner Magic Quadrant

Software and consulting firm Datavard has been listed in Gartner’s June 2016 “Magic Quadrant for Structured Data Archiving and Application Retirement” for the second time in a row. In comparison to the previous year, Datavard innovated and further improved its data data management suite OutBoard, which it believes lead to being positioned the furthest in the Niche Players quadrant. OutBoard to improve through further development and Hadoop-based applications.

In the area of structured data archiving and application retirement, “based on Gartner‘s estimates, the size of the structured data archiving and application retirement market is $287 million and growing at a compound annual growth rate of 10%.” Gartner analysts estimate that “by 2018, 80% of structured data archiving vendors will provide integrated support for unstructured content archiving — up from 30% today.

The market is in transition as enterprises are gaining maturity around information governance practices and policies for all content types. Consequently, the demand for holistic solutions that support unstructured content and allow for integrating existing business solutions is growing.

Large provider’s withdrawal a chance for specialized companies

“We are very pleased that Gartner has included us in the Magic Quadrant for Structured Data Archiving and Application Retirement a second time. Compared to last year, we have been able to improve our market position. Above all, we believe the analysts recognized our outstanding customer satisfaction and exceptional benchmark for research and development,” commented Gregor Stoeckler, Datavard CEO.

Datavard received the recognition for its data management suite OutBoard. The flexible, end-to-end archiving solution enables constant control of data growth and operating costs for SAP system landscapes. Modules for analytics (NLS) and Hana native, housekeeping, transactional systems and documents are included. All based within a central framework, processing data through multi-tiered storage management. Unique to this management suite is the unlimited choice of data storage options.

Integration and further development

OutBoard can be integrated into any SAP-certified data base management system, SAP IQ, Apache Hadoop or data/cloud based storage solutions. Customers profit from a massive data reduction in all primary databases, optimized system performance and general savings in back-up and restore times.

The suite is constantly further developed and adapted to current requirements. Additional Hadoop-based applications – such as connection of Hive, Spark and Impala, as well as a WORM-based solution – are planned to support adherence of compliance requirements.
